Over the years, Eurodifarm has developed a capillary Network for temperature-controlled distribution which today features 4 hubs and 25 regional platforms and covers an area of 60.000 m², dedicated to the pharmaceutical and medical sector. It also has around over 1200 climate-controlled vehicles capable of maintaining the cold chain constant and ensuring the integrity of the product in each phase of its journey.
Thanks to the strength of its Network, last year Eurodifarm delivered 44.000.000 packages to pharmacies, third party distributors, hospital units, Local Health Authorities, medical laboratories and patients in remote areas nationwide. It made more than 4.400.000 shipments on behalf of the main pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, health authorities and hospitals and transported over 164.000.000 kg of products, so guaranteeing the good health and quality of life of the nation on a daily basis.
Eurodifarm also uses an approved international logistic system capable of transporting pharmaceutical products under controlled temperatures to all European countries, including the islands. Eurodifarm provides standard customer-to-customer delivery services and also carries out combined shipments.
The Hub in Milan is an advanced logistic centre where goods are received and distributed. Each day the Hub handles 100.000 packages and makes more than 10.000 shipments throughout Italy.
The centre is surrounded by a service area of 16.000 m², and features a large climate-controlled warehouse spanning 8.518 m² with 60 loading docks. The temperature is maintained at +8/25°C by a central system, supported by a cooler. Goods are instead handled and stored at a temperature of +2/8°C in two large cold rooms (+2/8°C), the first spanning 500 m², equipped with 4 specific loading docks to minimize heat dispersion and the second of 200 m², constantly monitored by intelligent probes for recording the temperature. The extensive cold room spanning 500 m² also contains an area where psycho pharmaceutical products can be stored safely.
The temperature is checked and monitored by the use of appropriate, suitable measuring instruments, which have been adequately checked, and are calibrated as often as required.
Products are stored under conditions of maximum security, both inside and outside the site, thanks to video surveillance cameras that monitor operations, and a perimeter and volumetric alarm system.
The Hub in Bologna, opened in May 2012, is the new Logistics department for the Emilian region that unites the area’s activities under one roof. The platform serves the entire Emilia Romagna region, except the province of Piacenza, managing over 30.000 shipments per month.
The Hub has a climate-controlled warehouse +8/25°C spanning 2.700 m² and a room temperature warehouse of 900 m² used for handling the goods. Inside the warehouse, a cold room of 60 m² guarantees that products are maintained at a temperature of +2/8°C. This modern building, equipped with 20 docks for loading/unloading the vehicles, speeds up both inbound and outbound operations, so improving overall efficiency levels in the regional distribution process. The vehicle park covers an area of around 9.000 m² and is monitored using video surveillance.
Inside the Hub, the maximum security of the products is ensured by an advanced, complex CCTV and anti-intruder alarm system.
The Tuscan Logistic Centre, at only 10 km away from Florence, serves the entire Tuscany region and the province of La Spezia, managing more than 2.000 shipments daily.
The Hub boasts three cold rooms of 300 m² used exclusively for processing and storing products under temperature controlled conditions of +2/8°C, and a climate-controlled warehouse of +8/25°C spanning 3.650 m². In the last few years, the strategic location of the new platform and the large areas covered by the warehouse (around 4.000 m²) and the service area (around 5.000 m² ), have allowed the Eurodifarm network to further improve the fluidity of operations and to develop potential for growth in central and Southern Italy. A sophisticated climate control system and a cold room of 80 m² guarantee that the products are maintained at a temperature of +8/25°C and +2/8°C inside the warehouse. The platform serves the entire Lazio region and manages more than 1.600 shipments daily.
